Introduction


Binzhou Medical University (BMU), a province-run institution, is one of the key medical universities in Shandong Province. BMU has two campuses, and they are in Binzhou and Yantai respectively. The international students program is held on Yantai campus.BMU stresses international exchange and cooperation, And has established friendly relationships with the School of Medicine, UCSD, Florida Gulf Coast University in US;Yonsei University, the Catholic University of Korea; and Ottago University in New Zealand. BMU has also set up academic exchange programs with Duke University, Tuffs University in US, New Castle University in Australia, Waseda University in Japan and Royal College of Nursing in Great Britain. Operation Rainbow established Academic Exchange Centre in China. A great number of faculties have been dispatched abroad for vocational studies or on a basis of scientific cooperation.

At present, BMU has more than 15,000 full-time students; more than 1800 teaching and administrative staff, there are 436 full or associate professors and the number of master and doctoral degree holders is 671. There is now one academician of both Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), one “Taishan Scholar” Distinguished Professor (an award by the Shandong Province Government for those have made special contributions), and one overseas “Taishan Scholar” Distinguished Professor. There are 10 colleges (schools), 20 bachelor’s degree programs available. Our university has been entitled to confer the master degrees of two Classes I academic subjects (27 Class II academic subjects) in both clinical and basic medicine, and the professional master degrees in clinical and stomatological medicine. BMU has 4 featured majors at national or ministry level, 5 featured majors at provincial level and 7 provincial key laboratories (disciplines).
The International students here enjoy enviable climate and advanced teaching facilities. Built in 2004, the teaching building, cafeteria and apartments are of the first class among colleges. The students’ apartments are equipped with fridge, TV, telephone, internet access,

Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical College was set up in 1951, and through all the vicissitudes and development of almost half a century, has now grown into a general hospital on the provincial level with no less than 600 beds, complete essential departments, advanced equipment, adequate technical forces, and a comprehensive whole of medical care, teaching affairs, scientific research, preventive, health care and rehabilitation. At present, the hospital has a staff of 949, a medical staff with professors and high-level middle-aged and young doctors as the mainstay has come into being.
